A Capsule Endoscopy Journey through the Gastrointestinal Channel

Capsule endoscopy (also called Wireless capsule endoscopy) is a new method used in the investigation of the gastrointestinal canal. The capsule is small, easy to swallow, and records images during its journey through the digestive tract, tens of thousands of images. The small bowel has been difficult to examine but with this capsule it is easy. The capsule endoscope was invented in 1989 in Baltimore, USA, and rather simultaneously by groups in Israel and Japan. Given Imaging in Israel is the main manufacturer of capsules, and has been followed by Olympus.
