Malignant Polyps in the Colon

Malignant Polyp in the Colon

Adenomatous polyps transform into cancer, but the polyp-cancer sequence may take many years, probably at least 10 years. A polyp large than 2 cm in diameter have a great risk of being malignant. This polyp about that size had a small adenocarcinoma in it.

Polypectomi

The polyp is snared by a polypectomy snare

The polyp removed

The polyp is removed, leaving a little scar in the colon mucosa. A "microscopic" adenocarcinoma like this is radically treated by polypectomi and need just follow up with colonoscopies.
