Hyperplastic PolypsThese small hyperplastic polyps are found in the corpus. The patient had tens of these forming a hyperplastic polyposis of the stomach. To the left a biopsy forceps i seen.
A Single Hyperplastic Polyp in the Antrum9 out of 10 of all polyps found in the stomach are hyperplastic.
Hyperplastic Polyps in the AntrumPolyps like these are not considered to be premalignant. However, a stomach with hyperplastic polyps goes with a greater risk of getting cancer elsewhere in the stomach, and hyperplastic polyposis should therefore be kept under endoscopic surveillance perhaps every 3 years.
A Bleeding Prepyloric PolypA hyperplastic polyp can cause an occult gastrointestinal bleeding.
